Boston Criminal Defense Lawyers - Attorney Profiles

John E. DeVito

A Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1971–1974, Mr. DeVito's legal career began while he was still in the military. In anticipation of attending law school, he participated in the JAG Program where he tried Court Marshalls. For six months, Mr. DeVito defended Army personnel on trial for misdemeanor charges. This experience—combined with his time on the debate teams in high school and college—reinforced Mr. DeVito's desire to be a trial lawyer.

Mr. DeVito officially started his legal career as an assistant district attorney in Norfolk County, MA after earning his law degree in 1977. After two years with the district attorney’s office, he entered private practice and has defended individuals facing criminal charges for the past 30 years.

Mr. DeVito recently authored a book entitled Defending DUI Vehicular Homicide Cases.
